Hey Fellow Herdies!
Remember how disappointed all of you, who attended my nutrition session at the start of the biking season in February, were that I said you only had until the end of March to focus on losing weight? Well for those of you who want to start next season off lighter, now would be the time to focus on cutting back on calories (about 500 less per day) and working out about 1-1.5 hours daily.
There are so many diets out there that suit so many different folks' styles that I won't recommend one, unless you ask me specifically. However, cutting back on processed foods, eating mostly lean proteins, vegetables, fruits and whole grains, and having a good calcium source are great choices.
Most diets work if they are followed, the key is finding a diet style that you can live with for the long term. I know that in this season of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas, New Year's, and Valentine's Day it can be challenging to stick with a diet. However, your goal might be just not to gain, or to eat mindfully (I have to so work on this myself.) :(
I just wanted to give you an early gift, so that you can have a head start for the next biking season. Whatever path you choose, I am looking forward to seeing you all on training rides soon.
Your reluctant nutritionist herdie,
Amy
