Fundraising Ideas!
Stuck for ideas on how to reach your fundraising goal? Here are some ideas for you. Keep checking back for new ideas!

HOT DOG STAND
Hot dogs are easy to prepare, easy to eat, and easy to sell! Get permission from a local retailer to set up a hot dog stand outside their entrance. Be sure to have everything ready to go before lunchtime to catch hungry shoppers as they exit the store. You can purchase everything you need at the grocery store, or better yet, in large quantities at a club store. Remember in addition to hot dogs and buns, be sure to buy ketchup, mustard, relish, and anything else you want to serve as a topping. Don't forget the napkins! You can also sell chips and sodas, if you like, and if you have the means to keep them cold for long periods of time. You can also sell hot dogs at the local park, or at events like 10K runs. The best part is, hot dogs and the fixings are pretty inexpensive, so you won't need a large markup to make a profit. Supporters can enjoy a quick, fun meal at a low cost while you make money for your group.
Check with Wal-mart, or your local Grocery Store. Even hold one in your neighborhood or at a neighborhood Garage Sale.

BOOK CLUB FUNDRAISER
Band with your fellow book lovers, have a good time, learn new things, and raise money for your cause! A book club fundraiser may very well be the perfect combination of fun and function. Book clubs are pretty common, and they're always free, so it may not be something you'd want to charge admission for. But, when hosting a book club, you can sell refreshments for a small fee. You could also host a dinner and have the book discussion afterward over coffee and dessert. If you're able to work out a deal with a local bookseller and get copies of books at a discount, offer the books for sale to the club members for a little more than your group paid to take in a little more money for your cause. Make even more by having a group member or two babysit for those people who want to participate, but have small children. Be sure to find a venue with enough room for everyone. And then have fun!

GARAGE SALE!
A Garage Sale and a great way to get ride of junk you've collected and want to get rid of. Ask friends and neighbors to donate quality items to sell at your garage sale. Take a small ad out in the local newspaper and state you are donating all the proceeds to the LLS. You'd be amazed how many people will respond to that! All it takes is a little of your time and very little money for the ad to have a successful garage sale fundraiser!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST
This is one of the most common fundraisers because it’s easy and inexpensive to plan, and who doesn’t like pancakes? You’ll find everything you need to make the pancakes at the grocery store, or in large quantities at a club store. Don’t forget the syrup! You can even offer a couple of flavored syrups, like blueberry, if you want to make it more fun and tasty. You’ll also need a couple of large electric griddles and a place to plug them in. This fundraiser is best held somewhere that offers places to sit and eat, like a cafeteria. Check with your local schools or your local Elks club to see if you can host your pancake breakfast at one of them. You can charge either by the pancake, or by the plate with a set number of pancakes served. This kind of fundraiser is great for Sundays, and makes a great church fundraiser. If you can hold it at your church, everyone can come by and have a warm breakfast after services.

Have a particular skill your are good at or enjoy doing? Sell it!
Have a bake sale, cook for family and friends, mow lawns in your neighborhood, take a neighbors dog for a walk, fix a computer, babysit a friends child to give the grown ups a night out on the town, etc. Everyone has something they can do that could help someone out or make a difference in someone's daily life. Who knows what could come out of it. Just ask Aaron Cass, last season he did "Bike Tune-Ups" for $50 a bike. Aaron did quite well on that fundraiser just by doing something he is good at.

OFFICE CANDY BOX
Do you work in an office setting? I don't know about you, but in my office, there is always someone, yes, me included, looking for some chocolate or candy after lunch or later in the afternoon. Put together a candy box, put it in a central location or in your break room, and collect the proceeds from the candy you sell.
Go to your local wholesaler (BJs, Sam's Club, etc.), buy some of your co-workers (or yours) favorite candy/chocolates in bulk. Take a box, wrap it up in a fun wrapping paper, make a small sign saying what you are collecting for, and fill it up with the candy. Make another box, jar, etc. for people to drop their money in. Collect and refill each week. I would suggest at least doubling the price per piece that you paid. For example, if one of the candy bars you bought in bulk cost you .25, I would sell it for $1, or no less than .50.

PIZZA PARTY/MOVIE NIGHT WITH FRIENDS/FAMILY
First of all, who doesn't love pizza? Add in a movie, and hanging out with friends/family and you have got a great evening ahead! Invite some friends/family over for a pizza party/movie night. Charge a cover (amt. is up to you) and provide the pizza and beverages. Pick out a newly release movie or a classic, whatever you think will draw a crowd. All of this is relatively inexpensive and if you are a regular at your local pizzeria, maybe you can get them to donate some pizza's or give you a discounted rate. Movies at RedBox are only $1. Or, maybe you have a favorite movie already in your own collection you can watch. Any which way, it's a great way to get friends/family together for a fun night and get some fundraising dollars in!

CANS FOR CANCER
Make some flyers and hand them out with an empty garbage bag to friends/neighbors/co-workers to collect cans and bottles for refunds. Ask them to count the number of returnables they are donating and write the amount on a piece of paper and have them tape it on the outside of the garbage bag. All you have to do is pick them up and bring them to your local beverage center all at once for your refund. Make sure you set a date on your flyer that you will come back to collect their cans and bottles. A couple of weeks from the day you hand them out would be sufficient.
