From Teammate Olya. This is one of her reasons why she rides for LLS and TNT. Olya and Michael, we are sorry for your loss, and wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Unfortunately, my mother-in-law, Renate Meehan, had only lived for two weeks since her diagnosis of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) and we had to say goodbye to her last week, May 11, 2013. Renate went head on fighting cancer, but sadly during the course of a very intense chemo, she had gotten an infection, which had drained her body and within few days, she was unable to fight neither this infection nor Leukemia. Rest in peace, Renate. So many people will remember you for your wonderful optimism and great energy.
When I decided to do this ride, I was planning on riding in Renate's honor (she was a breast cancer survivor), but sadly, I will now be riding in her memory.
Well, this story is just another reminder how impirtant our work of fundraizing for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is. This organization is doing important work to advance blood cancer research and to improve the survival rates. Until we stop loosing loved ones to cancers - we must do what we can.
